Reverse Light wire location for camera install

So I've been doing some searching and can't find a definitive answer on the location of a reverse wire.

Trying to setup a backup camera to my HU, and the HU has a reverse wire that you just splice into your reverse light wire. But I have no clue where it is located under the dash, I've looked at some schematics, and it may show a location on the BCM, but no wire color. Anybody do this before?

Truck is a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD

I spliced into the reverse lights on the trailers connection. It has all the wires in the owners manuel.

There is a spot in the BCM. You can use it for the trigger on your radio to switch to the camera, and power the camera from the back of the truck so you don't have to run the wires the whole way to the back.

On my 06, I think it is in the C3 connector of the BCM (middle on the right). IIRC is a green wire. Before you tap into it, just turn the key on and probe it to make sure it is hot when the truck is in reverse and off when not.

I will try to remember to take a picture tonight for you.

Here is where I tapped into, again on an 06.

Its in the connector "HDLNR 1 12-WAY BRN"

backup camera system

I am not familiar with your truck model ,it seems that you only bought the backup camera ,not included monitor ? I bought a complete backup camera system for my truck ,with 7 inch LCD monitor ,which comes with 3 color wires ,red black and green. red is for power ,black is GND and green is for reverse.

when the green connected ,when you reverse your vehicle ,the camera would automatically turn on ,very convenient.check this vendor ,it has detailed instruction guide in PDF.
