Sorry man I can't find the receipt. Mine would be different anyway because I have a sunroof. I guarantee your dealer just punched your Vin into the computer and nothing came up because your truck wasn't built with them so they just said "oh well there's no parts available for your truck so it can't be done"

I think I have found the part numbers for the harness and am going to use the listed part numbers for the OEM lights............ I will report back when finished. Thank you for all the help

Don't ever trust what a dealer says. Get on a GM parts website online and you'll find the wiring harness and lights available.

They don't like 2016 yet, but heres a link to the 2015

ROOF LAMPS for 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 HD

Whats funny about this is that I ordered lights and the harness from GM Parts Direct, and after seeing this post contacted them because my harness part number I ordered is different than the one that is listed on that link. They guy at GM Parts Direct said - "Well, I cant really tell what harness would work..but if your dealer gave you that part number and said it would work then I would go with what they said." The joys...

Oh man....so friggin frustrating.

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum for posting but have been following for awhile. Today I installed Cab lights on my cousin's 2015 2500HD truck, all tha parts were bought from GM and we used my VIN as the dealer asked for one with the cab lights. Everything went easy and took about 4 hours, the only problem I have now is the XM stop working or lost signal. The original harness has one antenna connection and the new has two, also his roof antenna is different then mine (mine is bigger or slightly taller). I am thinking since my truck was made 9/15 and his was 5/14 there was some change, both are 2015 models. Does or has anyone run into this problem before and what is the fix? I was going to drop my headliner and see if the antenna has two or one connection, but also so would the radio. The one end is red with two ports and the other connection is yellow one port if that helps.

Last question is I have to install the camper mirrors onto his truck with the running lights, has anyone done this to help me guide my way? I have all the GM parts and harnesses, just have to figure out which pins plug into the connector at the door and into the fuse box.

My lights are in - I used the 2015 part numbers that someone posted earlier and the harness number that I posted is correct for a non sunroof Denali. Plugged them in this morning and voila - there is light!!!! Took the harness apart and separated the two extra wires that are in it and got rid of the trough so I'm only left w/ the harness for the lights. Tried the XM radio and Onstar and both functioned properly when the lights are plugged in and working. Made my templates and laid out all the tools I need. I will get them done tonight hopefully - this is the second set I have installed (did them on my 02) so it should go pretty quick. Got sheets to cover the dash and console and seats. Going to use a round step bit to get the hole close to size and then a small drill bit to drill out the square corners as much as I can then file and test fit until they are good and snug. I will post pics when complete.

Also - looking for any advice on the interior teardown...... How does the overhead console (homelink, rear slider control, dome lamps) assy come down? Does it drop w/ the headliner? How about the visors? They don't look to have screws like the older styles? Grab handles above doors? A Pillar trims and grab handles? Do I need to get into the upper B pillar trim removal?

Got the lights done last night - not too bad at all. Measured close to 25 times... measured and looked, measured and looked, measured and looked until they were just right. Used a very small bead of clear silicone right around the holes just in case. Used a step bit to 3/4" and then a square file to finish the square holes. Filed and test fit, filed and test fit until they slipped in easy, but snug. Took the harness apart as others have to get rid of the excess wiring that was not necessary. All in all pretty easy and happy w/ the results. Took about 5 hours total. One more thing - I covered the entire interior in old sheets and there was metal shavings all over even w/ the wife holding the vacuum. Cover everything up good, would have hate to seen if all that was on the dash and seats :)

Pics....................
Good job man.
I'm planning to tackle this in the next few days when the weather clears up. What did you use for measurements?

I measured a couple of 2015's at work and took a ton of different pics from all angles of them so I could visually compare. Turns out the Onstar antenna is different for 2016 so the Left side measurements were a bit off. I can email you a picture of the homemade CAD drawing that I made if you're interested. I tweaked on the exact final placement a bit to get them where I thought they looked right, then measured and made the LT and RT sides match perfectly. They are really close to factory placement. Its really pretty easy, lots of measuring and lots of filing and be sure and cover the interior up good.

Got mine done this afternoon.

I put the roof clearance lights on a white 2003 Silverado and a gray 2004 2500 silverado pickups that didn't have them. they were the 2013 style lights. I built the harness for both. bought the ends and made the harness, and plugged it into the passanger side fuse box. I got the roof lights off ebay for half the price of a gm dealer. took me a few hrs to get the measurements just right. like said before the older ones are round holes. so a step bit is a must.

then I bought a new 2013 2500 w/roof lights. and got 2 extra roof lights to mount between the outside and middle light so I had 5 roof lights. I had the plugs left over from the harness builds for the other harness builds.

all the times instead of covering everything in the truck. I took down the whole headliner in the 2003 and 2004 and half the headliner in the 13. and I just taped a lage sheet of paper to the roof with just enough slack in it to not catch the drill bits. I also held a vac to the drill bit to try and keep the shaveings from flying all over.

now last yr I bought a 2015 w/roof lights and again I wana add the 2 extra lights so ill have 5 total roof lights. I got the roof lights. paid $30 ea. I'm just trying to find the plugs and pins to make the pig tails.

iv never had the gm roof lights leak. I didn't use silicone just because if youd have to take them off it be a big mess to get them loose. just make shure the surface is clean. and make sure there tight but not to tight to strip out the holes. id never use the recon junk. iv had way to many issues with there over priced crap. iv gotten several tailgate bars they all failed with in the first day to the first yr. so ill never get that junk again. and no I wound not recommend there stuff either.

I noticed yesterday evening that the Recon light on the passenger side that two of them were out. I saw moisture inside the lens. Needless to say I will be ripping those POS's off and replacing them with OEM. The previous owner had put aftermarkets on and I used Recon's to replace them with due to the pigtail on the Recon's and I didn't want to drill larger holes. My advice, don't use Recon's.

The GM parts came yesterday and it seems wiring harness 22823374 for the 2011 is not correct. That is what the parts diagram shows. I get it out of the box and there are no damn plugs for the roof marker lights. WT... I thought maybe they were wrapped inside the tape so I felt around it and no such luck. Nah, not a one of the connectors on the harness would fit into the light terminals.

Since I had the wiring harness from Recon that I ordered a long time ago when I replaced what ever the original owner had put on with Recon's I believe I am going to have to do some cutting and splicing wires to use the Recon plugs/wire.

I told the GM parts direct seller not to bother with finding the correct harness part number. I'll just use the Recon harness and GM lights.

Just enough to make you mad.
