Can't fix DTE or Range... My low fuel light came on with 4 gallons left in the tank so figure you have less than 50 miles to empty once the fuel light illuminates...
I just put in 57 gallons and the low fuel
Light came
On as I pulled into the fuel isle. This left me with 5 gallons in the tank, or just under 100 miles.
The DTE really never is 100% accurate even prior to the new tank. The algorithm they use to calculate this changes with driving conditions. That said the fuel gauge accuracy is paramount.

“Ain’t no money in the bank, but the fuel tank is full”…🤣

I reached out to IdahoRob from ATP and asked him if EFILive could adjust the DTE or Range. He said that all EFILIve was able to adjust was the fuel capacity at full which is helpful since Titan & Transferflow tanks require the owner to reuse the stock sending unit. The S&B tank includes a new OE style sending unit accurately setup for the new tank's fuel capacity...
Don’t hold your breath. Kennedy tried this with my ECM and it f*#ked up my gauge accuracy so I had to ship the ECM back to him. I instructed him to default the factory setting for the fuel system. After this all is well. I just did t want to be shipping the ECM back and fourth at a cost of $60 a pop.
The DTE in not or will never really be accurate anyway because it constantly updated with driving conditions. The Fuel gauge will always tell the truth is working properly.
On my 05 the DTE after a fill up reads 430 until I’m down about 5/8 and at that point my Edge Insight PID indicates 64% fuel remaining. Close enough.
Today it cost me $196.xx for 57 gallons. The range I got was 847.3 with five gallons remaining.

I rely more on the gallons used that what my DIC shows for range. It is usually within a couple gallons of being accurate. Dean
Yea that makes sense, It’s just nice having the DTE somewhat accurate for around town

^this^

When i had a stock tank, keep in mind that i always fill up to the top of the filler neck, i was always adding about 1 gallon more than the DIC said i consumed.

Therefore, this is a VERY good method for determining if you are risking it when it gets close to E or not.

Sounds like to me the best way is still keep a sticky note on the dash like that old POS F250 I had in high school where the gauge didn’t work for either tank.

All joking aside, this is the one factor that’s keeping me from doing this mod. I don’t want to buy more stuff (IE: CTS/EFI Live scanner) to help monitor what ever. If I can’t program it so it looks correct on the display or gauge. I don’t want it.

I know that other guys like those items, I personally don’t. I just don’t want more tech hanging off my dash like a high tech *******. 😂

As silly as that sounds, yup. I have a hard time paying good money just to have something work kinda. In my mind its half correct which = its not complete.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about having the ability to extend my range. I just want it to work correctly. If I can find out how to get the DTE correct, different story.

I had a S&B 62 gallon tank installed in December. Ran 684 miles, and watched the fuel gauge move slowly from FULL to EMPTY. Then I got the DIC message of Low Fuel. Went to fill up, and was only able to put in 45 gallons (fuel was in the filler neck). Called them and they could not answer why that was happening. This is on my 2020 GMC Sierra Denali 3500.

If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate. I guess now I will be going off of miles driven at MPG shown in the DIC and hope I do not get it wrong.

I was not talking about DTE not being accurate, I am talking about the gauge. The gauge is supposed to be accurate as it uses an OEM sender unit, however my gauge shows empty after 42 gallons (has done it twice now). I am going off of DIC trip mileage/mpg to get gallons left before I fill my 3rd tank. Hopefully this will help the computer learn the new sending units signals?

The factory fuel level sensor should be fine in that tank. Distance to empty will be incorrect without an ecm calibration change. Did the factory fuel sender get installed correctly or damaged when the tank was swapped? Something is not right.

My gauge is dead-on accurate and has been since it was installed...
My fuel gauge is also spot on when compared to the Edge insight. As mentioned previously, when the low light came on as I pulled to fuel it took 57 gallons leaving 5 gallons of reserve. I can certainly live with that. Like BoiseRob said it one of the best modifications I’ve ever done and I couldn’t agree more. DTE is a joke because it constantly changes with driving conditions while the fuel gauge shows what you have in the tank.

My low-fuel light comes on around 52 gallons (thats 52 gallons of filling it up the neck, not just letting the foam kick stop the fueling process.

Agreed with the fuel gauge, mine's been spot on the whole time.

My DIC is finally coming around to learning my DTE. I'm on my 4-5th tank and the DTE just pegged over 500 miles at last fill up. Used to only be in the upper 300's.

Only problem I need to figure out is how to protect the tank since it sits below the frame. If anyone has built any level of protection for theirs.. post up. Interested in hearing/seeing it
