Hello guys, I have a 2012 duramax the lml motor I believe…. Any ways recently I noticed some white smoke clouds come out of the exhaust only when I was punching the throttle like to get on the freeway for example. It only happened a few times this was yesterday. I haven’t drove it since yet, but I checked the coolant and it has no oil and is full, oil has no water and is full, the truck has never over heated on me. At first I panicked thinking head gasket but not think possibly not…. Also no check engine light either and no loss of power/ was driving normal. Any ideas?

Had the same thing with a former 2012. Normal. At least that is what the dealer told me. It happens when your truck is in a DPF regen. Reported the issue twice and then just learned to live with it until I sold my truck. They checked the downpipes and everything both times, and said it was just characteristic of the earlier LMLs. Never had the issue on my 2 LMMs, or my current L5P. I even got a warning once from law enforcement after taking off from a stop at an intersection which left a nice big cloud of white exhaust, resulting in me getting pulled over. I explaiened to the officer that this was not "rolling coal" smoke (black) but was from the emissions system, which the officer still felt a little uneasy about, but after showing him the write up from a recent service visit for this issue where they stated normal operation, I was off the hook.
