I am not sure what I should get. I am looking for something that I can pickup at the local auto parts store - I just didn't want to risk getting something that will hurt things or doesn't work. My goal is two fold - I want something that cleans/lubes the injectors, and I want something that also gets into the DPF that will help clean it out (reduce the amount of DEF cycles).
This trucks fuel filter was done at 16k miles, and was not as black as the many others I have seen around the web. I have also experienced a fuel mileage decrease of around 2mpg, and increased DEF cycling. The root of my fuel mpg drop is purely due to DEF cycles, so I would like to minimize those as best I can.

Sounds like you are misunderstanding the use of DEF.

ok just checking, they dont have the diesel flavor here so i assume its less common to find and i had remembered reading that bottle in the past and seeing that it did not appear to be designed for diesels.

You are right - I should have stated regen cycles. The amount of regen cycles per tank has increased for me, so I want something to add to the fuel that helps keep the DPF clean.... which reduces the regen cycles, and increases my fuel mileage.

'dunno; I'm not trying to go above and beyond factory recommendations to potentially get the next owner few extra miles out of their fuel system. It's not like I'm skipping oil changes. I bet most of us won't own a single truck long enough for fuel additives to have a significant impact on whether or not something fails while we own it. Maintaining these trucks properly is expensive enough.

I run Total Power FPPF because John at Kennedy Diesel said it’s good stuff. Used close to a case of 32 oz bottles over the past 40k miles. Truck seems to like it. No gelling at neg temps. Plus little lube always helps right? Talking about injectors. 😲

Power Service user here... white bottle in the winter, grey bottle in the summer. I also add a bit of ashless 2-stroke motor oil (typically marine engine oil) to each tank as well. I recently had my injector balance rates checked, at 131,000 (they are the originals), and got a positive report back from the technician. Although they forgot to give me the report when I picked up the truck.

I will let everyone know how this Lucas product turns out. I will be adding it tomorrow (to 25 gallons) when I get some new fuel in it. I am hoping that my regen cycles get much more distance between them.

I have been using BG products, hot oil flush before oil change and fuel additive in all my diesels and it has given great results, I don't sell the stuff and I am not on commission I am a fleet manager and I have noticed on units that are idled way too much and no longer regen properly that the fuel treatment has turned that around and got them behaving well again. (no it doesn't fix the mechanical troubles) The dealer rep in my location is awesome, he has very good product knowledge and he's been willing to give test samples for new customers.

I just ordered some archoil ar6200, seems to be a very good additive, it is supposed to make your regen intervals longer, and it adds some lubricity to the fuel for your injection pump and injectors. It does other things as well.

One of the main reasons I bought it was because of a video on powerstroke help. He said that egr shortens the life of the engine by about 50%, and that this fuel additive reduces the soot, and as a result there is less soot circulating back thru the engine, he said this additive makes it “premium diesel fuel”, and that all the fleets he services have had less problems since running this additive. I dont know how true it is, but I have always found him very knowledgeable. He also said that this is not just a ford problem, its all nee diesel engines. Im excited to try it out.

That sounds like a load of crap to me, i see no chemical way this product could make a noticeable difference in soot generation, at least not to the point where the reduction in soot through the EGR would be the source of prolonged engine life. it may be a great lubricator and what not, im just not buying the magic soot stopper abilities. Soot is a byproduct of the diesel cycle. Assuming that you have a healthy engine, i dont see this making a dent in the natural soot accumulation of a diesel engine. Now if your injectors are hosed and your making excess soot, that might be a different story, but thats a broken truck working better, not a working truck working better.

also, based on the hat, im assuming he is either sponsored by, or a dealer for this product, which does not exactly make him unbiased about its abilities.

My buddy switched over to Hot Shots Secret on his 7.3 Excursion and I was curious if anyone had any real life experience with it. He was using Diesel Kleen prior to that.

I have since moved moved over to Hot Shots Secret EDT. My fuel mileage has gone up, it's cheaper than Diesel Kleen too.
