TCM arrived and a five minute installation - removed battery cables first.

That fixed the TCM error but I still have the p205B problem with the DEF tank. I received a letter from GM about this but they cutoff repairs at 120,000 miles. That sucks.

Orth Chevy

2011 Silverado, been having issues with blowing white, bluish smoke for about 6 months. Several days ago my Transmission shut down, being told it is my TCM, my truck went out of warranty 2 weeks ago. I had it in several time for the smoke issue, they have replaced the injectors, replaced a filter, they never can never find any codes on this and GMC claims this has never been reported as a problem, asked if this could have something to do with the TCM and they tell me no.

anyone else have the connection of the two?

Yup. I did. mine was blowing the blueish white smoke both before AND after the TCM got replaced. Mine only smoked when you took off from a complete stop. It was intermittent though, and when it did smoke it didnt't matter if you took off easy of on the floor. My buddy, who I trust more than the mechanic at the dealer, said it was mere ash being blown out of the DPF.
My solution came when the EGR valve crapped the farm and that was the last straw. I traded it in on a 2015.

Hey Guys. My 2012 2500HD is currently at the GMC dealership. They are trying to charge me $877 for this repair. I have 76k miles on the truck. I told them it should be covered under the 8yr / 80k Federal emissions warranty and the service writer says it is not. I cant find the supplemental limited warranty book for my truck model and year. Does the supplemental for all cars and trucks from that year work? Trying to get my truck out of the dealer today so I can have it for the weekend.

my book for the 2011 show 5 years 100,000 miles, from my research depending on your area they did fix the books.
in my case I was over less then 30 days of 5 years and just over 87,550 when my TCM went out.

my problem started with the smoke back when it was still covered by Warranty but because the system was not showing any errors they could not do anything other then replace the injectors. I have had my truck back over 1 month and no more smoke issues.

I sold my 2012 but I still have the books. Just pulled it out and took a picture for you. Hope this helps.

I had a situation where I had to pay the dealer to get the truck and later, after clarification from GM, was given a refund, an apology and a courtesy service for my trouble.

If you need the truck, pay it and follow up after.

Still fighting with the dealership. They still claim its not covered under the 80/80k. They claim they have called GM and been turned down on the 2012. Talking to the GM of the dealership.

They claim the Duramax is only covered to 5yr/50k on those components. Although I did get the GM to admit that the supplemental warranty book does say 8yr/80k for some components he is insisting it doesn't apply to the Duramax.

The service adviser sent me a vehicle report on my truck detailing the warranties. It doesn't show the 8yr/8k federal emissions warranty at all. Any idea why this is not showing? They wouldn't do anything to fix it before the weekend and say they have to call someone else at GM to ask why this isn't covered.

I went through this a couple years ago on my 2011.
I had about 70k on it at the time and they wouldn't warranty the TCM.
I believe the 50k warranty number was what they told me as well.
They wanted a bot $800+ to fix it.
I got an ACDelco TCM from RockAuto for $2-300 bucks(don't remember exact price).
Then had them install and flash it for $100.
It was kinda funny the service manager told me the rock auto price was just a little cheaper than he could get the part for. So... if you do the rough math, I cost me about $400 to do it my way and they wanted $800+ for them to order it ( they installed as well).
So basically they were going to hose me out of about $400 just to order it themselves.

Yesterday pulled off on shoulder to look for an address. Went to pull out and: no power to move forward - felt like too high of a gear, no shift indicator on the DIC, engine light. Called OnStar: they said it was an "engine drive train to rear wheels issue" diagnostic. Drove 10 miles in "limp mode" I didn't feel comfortable going over 40mph. At one point, I had to accelerate and it shifted roughly. Then the "ABS" and "Parking Brake" illuminated on DIC. Researched internet and believe it is the Transmission Control Module (TCM). I'm on the east coast camping in the 5th-wheel I pulled here! I am now trying to find a mechanic to replace and flash it. Are you telling me that only Chevy can do this? Frustrated....

Get the tcm from rock auto or equivalent auto place. They run around 220 to 300. It's the spikey looking thing hooked to your fan shour. Take a few bolts off, the electrical connector, swap the new one and then you need to flash it either with a tech 2 or the dealer can do it for you and you can limp it there. Iirc they charge from 100 to 200 to flash it. I've heard of dealers charging upwards of 800 for swapping it n flashing it themselves so if possible do it yourself

I didn't think that a V2 could relearn the TCM? Thought we had to pay the dealer to re-learn.... Then we could flash whatever tunes we wanted with a V2. At least that's what Kory told me when I tried to do it myself. Do you know a way as this would help many people?
