Yep, I said in other forums that paying MSRP or above in the future would become the norm and many people foo fooed it. But I think it will be controlled by production and allocation and going to a more of order what you want and wait for it instead of flooded dealer lots and 5-10k off the sticker, begging you to buy. I think those days are over on hot ticket models. Not mass produced sedans, but all truly desirable models that you can barely find anywhere anymore……also chip issues aren’t going away anytime soon, which won’t help…..
If and when the supply chain ever gets straightened out, the full price paying will fade back away. Most of the car market will be EV before long so with all of that new tech there will be some need for sale pricing to entice new buyers. Trucks abs SUVs seem to be riding a huge, long running wave in this country so they will remain at the top of the manufacturing build lists and some light discounts will return. There is a lot of things flying around right now on the chip production front but it’s not an easily solved issue. I think things should start to ease a bit by the end of the year but take all of 2022 to come around. Hopefully some serious chip production solutions come from this and very hopefully, the US can gain some of that much needed manufacturing base.

Production runs of most all automotive production facilities may never run like they use to. New vehicle supply is tight right now but auto company’s are not having to deeply discount vehicles due to over production/low demand either. Therefore, production of automotive parts/vehicles is going through a big change right now that will shape how the industry builds out from now on too.
You are very Correct ..I was informed by One Chevy dealer...if you anticipate parts/fluid needs..you need to review the time lines in advance.........................................

I have a 2021 Silverado with the 3.0 and have experienced this issue three times. The first was on 3/28/2021 when the truck had around 3500 miles. I tried starting it about an hour later and it fired right up. I took it to the dealer and they were unable to duplicate the problem and there were no trouble codes.
The second occurrence was on 6/10 and I was able to start the truck about 15 minutes later. I didn’t take the truck in that time.
The third time was on Tuesday (6/28). When it wouldn’t start I used my car instead. The truck started right away later that afternoon. I took the truck to the dealer that same day. Since then they have not duplicated the problem or found any codes, but they say that the crank position wheel is bent. They are going to perform the repair, but have told me that it will take up to two weeks from the time that all the parts arrive. (The truck now has about 10,500 miles).
I’m hoping that this fixes the problem, but this thread seems to indicate that there may be some other issue.
I got my truck back on Friday, August 20th. It took a total of 45 days to perform the crank trigger wheel repair. Most of this time was spent waiting for parts. While they were in there, they also replaced the rear oil seal. I hadn't seen any sign of an oil leak, but the tech decided that the seal looked like it might leak soon. I haven't had any starting issues since getting the truck back, but my issues were pretty infrequent anyway. A couple days after getting the truck back, it threw a check engine light with a code related to the DEF pump. I reset the light myself and it hasn't come back.

Man that is awful. Let us know if you have any more occurrences of crank but no start.

I also just experienced the issue of my 2021 silverado 3.0l duramax not starting. It currently has 12040 miles on it. I drove about 40 miles stopped at the grocery store for about 20 minutes and when I tried to start it the motor cranked but did not start. I repeated my attempt to start about 10 times with the same results. I also tried shifting to neutral and perform a start but all efforts failed. I then called the dealership for a tow. after the truck was dropped off at the dealers it started. no codes set so I got the call to "Come pick up my $55000 truck there is nothing wrong with your truck" answer. I went ballistic but kept my cool. then I googled the question 3.0 duramax won't start and here I am! Fortunately the dealership has another serviceman with common sense who stopped me from taking the truck till he has it checked out more than the no codes set issue.
Any update on the issue?

I feel for you. That’s quite a bit to manage early in ownership. Pardon if I missed, but what’s your mileage?

Has anyone been able to locate the camshaft position sensor? I searched from the top of the engine bay but was unsuccessful. I want to be able to try the shim without going to the dealer. I will try coming in from the wheel well and remove the liner but everything is crammed in there so I'm not optimistic. I'm hoping you don't have to remove the turbo and related parts to get to it.

It is on the back of the cylinder head. Lots of component removal to access it.

Is it more efficient to lift the cab to access the back of the cylinder head, or remove components?
For just the sensor, I hear you can do that with the cab on. If you have to go into the timing cover, the engine has to come out.

I encountered this at around 750 miles and stumbled on this thread. My entire excitement about my 2021 Sierra Elevation just fell in the gutter. Just suffered through 15 pages of reading and it looks like the best fix is getting rid of the truck. Yay. I don't see any resolution here other than that.

ATTENTION! I have called GM and started a case. They told me to call the dealership back and ask for the CEM. You then tell them the issue and say you want the TACT TEAM to look at the vehicle. These are words to show we have spoke with GM. I had my 5th no start issue yesterday and did what GM told me to do. I have an appointment next week for the to put the shim part in near the cam shaft. I originally didn't want this work to be done when I heard about it. My truck doesn't fall into the bulletin as far as vin numbers, BUT, they want to do the work. I see it as this, if it fixes it great. If it doesn't then it is one more thing in my favor if I have to get rid of the truck...I don't want to but I am not doing this with my new truck for much longer. GM has NOT had many complaints about the NO START issue. WE NEED TO FLOOD THEIR CALL CENTER WITH THIS ISSUE!!! If you haven't call PLEASE do, and come prepared with details where they will understand this is a HUGE issue! Good luck to you all, I will update on how the work went and if it does the no start after the work is done. Be safe all!

It’s a buzz kill to bring home a new vehicle and have issues. I’m holding out hope that GM will step up to the plate on this issue. If not, no one should have to take the hit on sales tax, fees, etc…to get a properly functioning vehicle.
