ATTENTION! I have called GM and started a case. They told me to call the dealership back and ask for the CEM. You then tell them the issue and say you want the TACT TEAM to look at the vehicle. These are words to show we have spoke with GM. I had my 5th no start issue yesterday and did what GM told me to do. I have an appointment next week for the to put the shim part in near the cam shaft. I originally didn't want this work to be done when I heard about it. My truck doesn't fall into the bulletin as far as vin numbers, BUT, they want to do the work. I see it as this, if it fixes it great. If it doesn't then it is one more thing in my favor if I have to get rid of the truck...I don't want to but I am not doing this with my new truck for much longer. GM has NOT had many complaints about the NO START issue. WE NEED TO FLOOD THEIR CALL CENTER WITH THIS ISSUE!!! If you haven't call PLEASE do, and come prepared with details where they will understand this is a HUGE issue! Good luck to you all, I will update on how the work went and if it does the no start after the work is done. Be safe all!
No offense guy but this problem is widespread and has been for months. If you think it’s something new that GM needs to know about you are swallowing what they are feeding you. There’s now been 3 tech bulletins to try and fix this problem.

I would actually encourage owners to open a case with GM. Not because we are informing them of an unknown problem, but because customer concern needs to be communicated.

I’m not wanting to argue either, but there is a repair available that is supposed to fix it that was released a week ago. I would advise everyone who has the problem to make an appt to have that bulletin performed. If there was no fix then yes I would contact GM and raise hell, but as of right now there is a fix.

Honestly no one knows if this newest fix fixes anything. Let them experiment on someone else's truck before they do yours.

I see that GM is requiring everyone with this problem to first have their computer loaded with the latest software.
My question is, has anyone had this fix the problem with their truck?
I had mine scheduled to have this done, which is a real inconvenience for me being my truck is my only mode of transportation, so I canceled my appointment.
I'm thinking now to just wait a little longer hoping a real fix will be found.

Mine is at the dealer now. We shall see what happens.

I have 9000 miles on the truck and the issue has happened about 6 times. First time was within the first 400 miles. Last time was about 1 month ago. Had my 2021 GMC Sierra SLT 3.0 in the shop for about a week. Dealership had no knowledge of the issue and I supplied the service bulletin # for them. They dug all the way down to the "bent wheel" issue and visually inspected that it was not bent. So that was not the issue with my no start long crank problem. GM told them to put it back together and update the computer and give it back to me. It's been 1 week post "repair" and has not happened yet. Since it's intermittent I'm expecting it to happen again, but will probably be a while longer. I think at this point GM doesn't have a clue. I've reached out to other youtube people that reviewed these trucks/engines and had talked with the GM engineers in reviews past. The YouTube influencers are now saying that GM is keeping tight lips on this one! Just means they don't have a clue.

@jay p It was mentioned there is a new fix as of a week ago. The bulletin you referenced in Post 250 is the same bent trigger wheel PIP5806 from May.

The one I posted is from Aug 6th. It has the .5mm spacer part in it (it's on page 2).

10-4 thanks. I see the added notes at the end.

I just got off the phone with my dealer. My check engine light was not the one that links to that bulletin. My truck is showing P305C and P305E which are related to a power supply relay, which they replaced and said my truck is ready for pickup.

Bulletin PIP5806 says it is only related to DTC P0341, which I don't have. Do I have to have that DTC in order to ask them to investigate the Bulletin?

nope, clearly says a possible P0341set.

Cool thanks. I will take the truck back because I have a trip planned this weekend but if/when the no start happens again I'll bring it back for them to do the Bulletin inspection. Hopefully we'll start getting some good news about those getting it done, not having any repeat visits.

Bent wheel could make the sensor read intermittently.
Incorrect gap could make the sensor read intermittently.

They one that do it sometimes, must read it 'usually' or it wouldn't run.

Perhaps it doesn't always get a good read during the startup sequence -- but then gets a better read when start sequence re-initiated.

Perhaps they are going to also find that some of the sensors aren't 'sensitive' enough.

Wouldn't be the first time the same symptom had more than one possible cause.

Built Oct '20 and now at about 12,000+ miles, mine hasn't missed yet.
(knock on wood -- I probably just jinxed it)
