No, I bought the Ultimate Idler Arm... it's HUGE, a bargain, and I noticed an immediate improvement over the old Moog!

Nice. The pisk does not work on the ultimate idler arm correct? I assume you are going to run it on the pitman?

yeah the brace doesn't work on the Ultimate (but if you ever held one, you'd know that you don't need it, lol -- HUGE!). I yanked the idler brace when I did the swap, and now I'll re-use it on the pitman since I have it already.

let me know how its goes! i am in the process of ordering all the parts but not sure if to go with rare parts or moog

im a bit confused if i were to do just the pitman and ider arm with the stock idler support will the cognito pisk work?

Fyi..... Moog has a new HD pitman arm also now. I am leaning towards the rare parts
Do they look suspiciously like a rareparts replacement, similar to the supersteer idler support that rareparts now has...?? Kinda like the kryptonite that looks a lot like the supersteer.

I believe they are all the same design.

If you use the rare parts pitman / idler arm with the stock idler arm support yes it will work. But you will need the shim and the washer.

good to hear, did you notice a big difference in design vs oem or whatever you her before?

got my ass kicked last night. The Moog pitman was a BITCH. I finally got it off. The Rare slipped on the box but I couldn't get it on the drag link. So, I popped the drag link off the idler arm (I did the idler swap a few weeks ago and it was a piece of cake).

Now the pitman is on...I can't get the idler back into the drag link. FML. I'm going to try jacking up the front end to move the wheel and assy around and see if I can get it. If not, I have to pop off the tie rod and try that.

BTW - the thread on the Rare is different than the Moog. My cognito insert will not work. I seem to recall that Cognito included two differently pitched threads... dunno if I can find it. So if I can't then the brace will have to go on after I source a replacement.

I got the front up and it all came together quickly :)

However, the brace is not going to go on. I started the supplied locknut on the Rare and then tightened it up to get everything set. Once I was all put back together, I decided to take off the pitman nuts and put on the Cognito hardware. It was then that I noticed that the threads of the Rare looked galled. I removed their locknut and the threads on the Rare's stem were definitely not right. The cognito course adapter did want to thread. I got pissed and put the supplied Rare locknut right back on.

I went for a ride and the truck steers much nicer :) I did two boosted launches and everything felt great. Maybe a little more torque steer, but braces wouldn't make/break that, so it must just be me looking for something that isn't there, lol.

When I turned around to come home, I noticed better parking lot turns without the Cognito brace on. So although I'm a bit pissed, maybe I'm better without them on?

will be ordering the parts this weekend, any tips?

yes - first get a puller and then be ready to take a bench grinder to open it up a bit. Then, if your puller won't allow a socket to fit on it, take the head of the puller and dress it down with your grinder until it will. I rented the one from Autozone and had to do both of the above. I could not get it off until I hit it with a socket and my impact gun; the 17mm wrench did not have enough ass to turn it far enough for removal from the steering box.

Secondly, jack up both sides evenly. I had a bitch of a time trying to get things back together. It was much easier once the tires were off the ground.

That's about it. It's actually not a bad job.

P.S. Mine might have been more difficult since I have all of the Kryptonite goodies on.

thanks bud try and post pics of you can so i can get a better idea.

My mechanic told me he does the pitman first, then the idler as it is easier that way.
When I had him change my pitman I had already put the ultimate idler on and it stiffened the link do much that it made it hard to change the pitman
